The Psychomanteum Series: The art of hypnosis

Hypnotic Art: An integration of art and hypnosis

With my background as both an artist and hypnotherapist I am presently working on a series of paintings that are specifically designed  to access the subconscious mind. When the customer buys an original or a print they also receive a thirty, minute hypnotic recording. When the art arrives they can arrange their environment in such a way that they can be reclined and relaxed while gazing at the piece and listening to the recording at the same time. I then use the image as a launching pad or a 'doorway', if you will, to guide them into the hypnotic state and beyond. The artwork is not just a beautiful addition to their home or a fascinating conversation piece, it's also a powerful tool for making positive and long lasting change.

In the case of the work 'Spectral Radiance' (the first piece show), the recording takes the viewer on an amazing inner voyage thru the chakra system and then to the very heart of relaxation, inner-strength and self-awareness.

About the Psychomanteum Series

Dreams, the subconscious and the collective unconscious have played a critical role in the development of society, culture, and art. It is the birthplace of our mythology, our folk tales, fairy stories and blockbuster movies. Each night we descend into a mysterious cavern filled with symbols, emotion and with creatures both wonderful and terrible. During this time we are able to transcend our own physical limitations; we fly, we breathe underwater, we travel to far and distant places. To consciously pierce this subconscious veil has been the long held desire of shamans, alchemists, psychonauts and psychotherapists alike.

In this delightful series I explore this mysterious world and attempt to bridge the gap between the inner and outer worlds. These pieces were produced using a creative technique I call ‘Mystic Doodling’. It is achieved using both a cognitive and subconscious process. During the night, whenever I wake up, I jot down any images, symbols or other dream ’stuff’ that I might recall. Then when I’m ready to create the actual piece I perform the Yang style Tai Chi Chuan long form and then place myself into a deep, self-induced hypnotic trance. Then I begin to work on the piece bypassing the critical mind and allowing images to come forth, unfold, and present themselves.
